Cueva de Padre Nuestro

Cueva de Padre Nuestro is one of the Dominican Republic most extraordinary geological wonders—a flooded cave system forming one of the Caribbean most spectacular underwater cavern networks. Its crystal-clear turquoise waters illuminated by light penetrating from openings create almost supernatural beauty. Divers and snorkelers worldwide come specifically to Bayahibe to explore this subterranean paradise where century-old stalactites and stalagmites create lunar landscapes beneath the water.

The cave was known to Bayahibe fishermen since time immemorial as a navigation reference. Its tourism potential was recognized in the 1990s when first local dive operators included it in their tours. The cave system is part of El Milagro National Park with regulated access preserving its unique ecosystem.
