Mirador del Cerro del Cacique

The Mirador del Cerro del Cacique in El Peñón serves up a killer panoramic view of the San Juan Valley and the Sierra de Neiba. This hill was a key ancestral landmark for the Taíno people in the El Peñón area, used as a natural lookout over the valley and coast. Its name honors the indigenous cacique (chief) hierarchy. Today it serves as a tourist viewpoint overlooking the bay, the algarrobo trees (mesquite), and the Sierra — a living reminder of the pre-Columbian footprint on this land.
