What is El Mogote Jarabacoa?
El Mogote is the most impressive natural viewpoint in Jarabacoa and one of the most photogenic landscapes in the Dominican Republic, a rocky formation rising among the pines of the Central Mountain Range offering 360-degree views over Jarabacoa Valley, the Yaque del Norte River, and the mountains surrounding the City of Eternal Spring. The one-hour hike among pines and giant ferns to the summit is as rewarding as the panoramic view awaiting you above. A place that moves both first-time visitors and those returning for the tenth time.

El Mogote has been used by Jarabacoa residents as a reference point and orientation since pre-Columbian times. The rural communities inhabiting the Central Mountain Range knew it as a meeting point and territory divider. Its name comes from the Taíno word "mogote" describing these elevated rock and earth formations that characterized the island''s landscape.
