Salto del Macorís Waterfall

Tucked away near Las Guáranas, Salto del Macorís is a crystal-clear cascade tumbling over rocks into natural swimming holes perfect for a refreshing dip. The trail cuts through working cacao and plantain farms, shaded by almond and guama trees. You can drive right to the trailhead and it's an easy, flat 15-minute walk. Fed by the Loma Quita Espuela, the water stays cool year-round. Weekends bring local families out for the day; hit it on a weekday and you'll likely have the place to yourself. Pack water, sunscreen, and water shoes — there are zero facilities, so pack out whatever you pack in. An authentic, off-the-radar spot in the Cordillera Septentrional to unplug from the noise.

Born from the Macorís River at Loma El Jobo, this roughly 80-foot drop forms a crystal-clear pool ringed by humid forest. For generations, families from Las Guáranas and nearby towns have flocked here to cool off and picnic on its banks, making it the area's green lung and the go-to summer meeting spot.
