History

Born from the river flowing down from Loma Quita Espuela, El Jícaro takes its name from the jícaras (calabash trees) growing along its banks. For generations it served as a farm swimming spot and a path for conucos (small family farms); today the community protects it as a green lung and family gathering place, keeping alive the tradition of respecting the water and the mountains that embrace it.
