History
From the top of Cerro de la Vega, you own the valley where Las Guáranas was born — land of *conucos* (small family farms) and cattle country that grew up on the trade route between La Vega and San Francisco. The lookout started from faith: devotees climbed to the cross to pray for rain and good harvests. Today it's nature's balcony where the wind carries the scent of coffee and *guineos* (plantains/bananas), and sunset turns the town's zinc roofs to gold.
