Cerro de los Caciques Lookout

From the Cerro de los Caciques Lookout in Las Guáranas, you get a sweeping view of the Jaya Valley and the Cordillera Septentrional (Northern Mountain Range). It’s a peaceful spot to watch the sunset paint the mogotes (limestone hills) and the town below. The drive up is easy—accessible by regular vehicle—making it perfect for panoramic photos and a breath of fresh mountain air. Bring water and sunscreen; shade is scarce. This hill was a strategic vantage point for Taíno caciques (chiefs) surveying the Cibao Valley. Today, the lookout honors that Indigenous leadership and serves as a gathering place where locals from Las Guáranas share the panoramic vista of their conucos (traditional farms) and the silhouette of the Cordillera Septentrional.
