Mirador del Cerro Los Dos Pinos

The Mirador del Cerro Los Dos Pinos serves up the best panoramic views of Las Guáranas and the Jaya Valley. The drive up is a breeze — paved road the whole way and parking at the top. Bring water and a hat, though; the sun hits hard up here. It's the perfect spot to watch the sunset paint the mogotes (limestone hills) and coffee conucos (small farms). Quiet, zero crowds, ideal for photos and gulping down that fresh mountain air. You're up here in minutes from the town center.

This hill has always been a landmark for Las Guáranas farmers. From the summit you can see the Jaya Valley and the cacao conucos that drive the local economy. The name "Dos Pinos" (Two Pines) comes from two old trees that once marked the boundary and gave shade to folks climbing up. These days the lookout has benches and a roof so visitors can catch the breeze and watch the sunset at their own pace, with the mountain range as a backdrop.
