Cascada Los Cocos

Tucked near Las Matas de Farfán, Cascada Los Cocos is a natural waterfall that spills into a crystal-clear swimming hole — perfect for a refreshing dip. Surrounded by native vegetation, the spot feels cool and peaceful, ideal for a laid-back day in nature. Getting there takes a short hike along a rural trail, so pack water, snacks, and sunscreen; there are no formal facilities on site. It's the real-deal Dominican outdoors, unplugged and authentic in the southern region.

The falls spring from Loma de los Cocos, where the San Juan River cuts through the mountains. Back in the day, campesinos (local farmers) made it a mandatory rest stop when hauling coffee and firewood down from the highlands. The name comes from the coconut palms that line the riverbank. Today, it's the go-to Sunday swimming hole for Las Matas locals — the town's natural lung, where everyone goes to cool off and unwind.
