What is Cerro Los Chichos Lookout?
Cerro Los Chichos Lookout serves up the most complete panorama of Las Matas de Farfán and the San Juan Valley. From up top you can trace the patchwork of crops, the river, and the Sierra de Neiba's silhouette on the horizon. The drive-up access makes it easy, and sunset is prime time — golden light washing over the fields while the town lights flicker on. Bring water, a hat, and your camera; shade is scarce up here and a cool breeze usually kicks up. A mandatory stop to get the lay of the southern land and walk away with the definitive postcard of the region.

History
An iconic hill watching over Las Matas de Farfán. Its name comes from the *chichos*, native trees that blanket its slopes. Historically a strategic vantage point for keeping an eye on the San Juan Valley. Today it's the natural lookout where locals and visitors head for sunset, to catch the breeze, and take in the whole town spread out below with the Sierra de Neiba as a backdrop.
