Salto de la Cueva Waterfall

Tucked near Loma de Cabrera, Salto de la Cueva is a ribbon of cold water plunging into a natural limestone grotto. You reach it via a short, shaded trail winding through trees and coffee plants. The pool runs deep — perfect for a full plunge and a proper cool-down. Barely any tourists know about it, so you get that raw, peaceful campo vibe all to yourself. Born from the Dajabón River up in the sierra, this cascade forms where the current has carved through limestone, hollowing out a natural cave right behind the water veil. For generations, campesinos from Loma de Cabrera have used it as their swimming hole and Sunday family hangout. The name says it all: the waterfall that emerges from the cave. Community tourism looks after it now, keeping its backyard Cibaeño soul intact.
