Pico de la Loma Viewpoint

From the Pico de la Loma Viewpoint in Loma de Cabrera, you take in a 360° panorama of the Cordillera Central and the Dajabón River valley. On clear days, you can spot the border line and the coffee plantations blanketing the hillsides. Access is via a dirt road climbing up from town; a high-clearance vehicle or hiking boots are recommended. Bring water, a hat, and your camera: sunrise gilds the pines in gold, and sunset sets the horizon ablaze. A peaceful corner to breathe mountain air and walk away with the best postcard shot of the north.

This natural viewpoint exists thanks to the geography itself: the highest point of the hill that gives the municipality its name. For generations, it served as a mandatory pass and lookout for getting oriented among valleys and ridges. Today, with no formal infrastructure, it remains an impromptu balcony where the cool breeze and the Cordillera Central views remind you why this town is called Loma de Cabrera.
