Mirador El Pico del Torito

From the El Pico del Torito overlook in Loma de Cabrera, you get a killer 360° panorama of the Sierra de Neiba and the valley rolling down toward Restauración. The rocky peak rises above coffee plantations and cloud forest, with a cool breeze year-round. You'll need a 4x4 or dirt bike to handle the dirt road up; pack water, sunscreen, and a light jacket. Sunrise and sunset serve up the best light for shooting the mountain ridges and the border line. Local guides in town run dawn trips. This is the real deal for mountain tourism up north.

Out in Loma de Cabrera, this overlook was born from the land itself: the rocky summit crowning the range has always been a natural watchtower over the Dajabón valley and the border. Farmers and ranchers used it forever to get their bearings when the fog rolled in thick. These days, it's fitted with railings and benches so you can read the cross-border landscape—no filter needed: the river, the *conucos* (small family farms), and on clear days, the Haitian silhouette to the west.
