What is La Loma de Cabrera Ecological Park?

La Loma de Cabrera Ecological Park protects cloud forests and river headwaters in the Septentrional Mountain Range. Shaded trails lead to overlooks with sweeping views of the valley and the Dajabón River. It's a prime spot for spotting endemic birds like the Hispaniolan parrot and the Antillean mango hummingbird. The cool, constantly humid climate nurtures orchids and giant ferns. Local guides explain the area's vital hydrological importance. Wear boots, bring water and bug spray; entry is free but voluntary donations are welcome. An essential green lung for the Dominican northwest.
