Mao
Mao is the capital of Valverde province in northwestern Dominican Republic, the heart of one of the country's most productive valleys. Known as the land of rice and tobacco, Mao has a diversified agro-industrial economy including rice, tobacco, citrus, and cattle. The city pulses with the vitality of a prosperous Cibao provincial center, with active markets, lively nightlife, and Creole gastronomy reflecting the abundance of local products. Mao is also an important communications hub for the northwest.
