History
Located in the Paraíso area of Barahona, this cave gets its name from local legends about big cats that once roamed the region. Formed by karst processes in limestone rock, it served as a ceremonial refuge for the Taínos, who left petroglyphs on its walls. Today, it's an ecotourism draw blending caving, pre-Columbian history, and the biodiversity of the southern coastal dry forest.
