Pico del Mango Viewpoint

From the Pico del Mango Viewpoint in Polo, a 360° panorama unfolds across the Sierra de Bahoruco and the Neyba Valley all the way to Lake Enriquillo. On clear days you can spot the Barahona coast and even Haiti. The drive up winds through the Loma del Curro past coffee plantations and cloud forest — prime territory for sunrise or sunset. Pack a light jacket, sturdy shoes, and your camera; mountain weather shifts fast. A natural balcony for taking in the raw scale of the Dominican southwest.

From this natural balcony on Loma del Mango you can see the Polo Valley and the Sierra de Bahoruco. It's a mandatory stop en route to the famous "Magnetic Poles" (Poles Magnéticos) where cars appear to roll uphill. The spot started out as an informal lookout where guides and visitors would pause to cool off in the mountain breeze and sip the local coffee.
