What is Playa Macao del Sur?
South of famous Macao, this quieter, less-visited beach section retains the original wild character of the coast. With generous waves attracting local surfers, thick golden sand, and palm trees leaning toward the sea, this stretch offers Caribbean authenticity increasingly hard to find in Punta Cana. Small fisherman shacks serving fresh-fried fish and plantains right by the water make midday here an incomparable local gastronomic experience.

Los ranchos locales sirven el pescado que trajeron esta mañana. Más fresco imposible.
Olas para surf casual
No es una playa de surf técnico pero las olas son perfectas para bodysurf y boogieboard.
4x4 recomendado
El camino de acceso es de tierra. Con lluvia puede ser complicado sin tracción 4x4.

History
This section of Macao coast has remained relatively untouched thanks to topography making access difficult from the main road. Macao fishermen have worked these waters for generations, and their makeshift shacks on the beach are the last remnant of Dominican coastal life before the Punta Cana hotel boom.
