History
The waterfalls of the Sierra de Bahoruco have been known to local farming communities for centuries as sources of pure mountain water. Salto de Socoa took its name from the nearby town and has been a destination for local excursions for generations. Only in recent years has it appeared on southwestern tourism itineraries, remaining relatively untouched.
