History
El Conuco was founded in 1985 by the Melo family with the mission of preserving and promoting traditional Dominican cuisine at a time when globalization was beginning to erode local culinary traditions. The name refers to the small Dominican family garden where the basic fruits of Creole food are grown. Since then it has become a must-visit stop for presidents, celebrities, and tourists.
