What is Mirador Sur?
Mirador Sur is the green lung and most important recreational space in Santo Domingo, a 6-kilometer-long park along Caribbean Sea cliffs offering panoramic views of the city and sea from a height of 40 meters. With cycling paths, running trails, sports courts, gardens, and a natural cave running through it, Mirador Sur is Dominicans' favorite spot for exercise and socializing. At sunset, when the sun sets over the Caribbean from the cliffs, the park becomes one of the capital's most beautiful free natural spectacles.

History
The Mirador Sur Park was inaugurated in the 1970s, taking advantage of the natural coral cliffs marking Santo Domingo's southern border. Its design created a linear green space along the cliffs that preserved this coastal ecosystem from real estate development. The natural cave traversing the park was once used by Taíno communities before colonization.
